New Vrindaban’s Transcendental “Throwback Thursday” – 12/12/13

Throwback Thursday is a popular internet trend and weekly theme commemorating vintage moments.

Each week we share a photo and highlight a time from the early days of ISKCON New Vrindaban.

Visit the New Vrindaban Facebook Page and take your best guess on the who, what, when & where by posting your responses in the comment section.

We post on Thursday and confirm the details on Sunday.

Let’s have some transcendental fun and see who knows their New Vrindaban history!

Looks like Mudakari, at first I thought it was Mother Rupa, not sure about the glasses.

Madhurya Lila, please post your guess on the NV Facebook page. That’s where we are collecting comments. See if you can identify the second mystery lady as well. Thank you!

The woman in the front is most DEFINITELY Mother Rupa.

The woman in the back kind of looks like Mother Isani to me.

I imagine that are picking up in the back of Bahulaban (over the hill) behind where the Bhagavat Dharma had been held.

Follow up from this week’s “Throwback Thursday:”

A special shout out to Pitambara prabhu. She was the first to correctly identify the two ladies in the photo. Manasvini dasi also guessed right.

Here’s the info we have:

Who (left to right): Ruparamesvari dasi & Amrtaprada dasi
What: Picking wildflowers for the Deities
Where: Bahulaban, New Vrindaban
When: Summer 1977

Photographer unknown. First published in a BTG article, November 1977.

Thanks to everyone who participated! We”ll do it again next week. Please encourage your friends to join in. We look forward to more fun and another lively discussion.

NOTE: If you have a photo showing New Vrindaban devotees in action, share it with us privately and we’ll consider including it in future postings.

The location is in the roadside field across from the first devotee house at Talavan. It is very early after sunrise. We are picking for Deity garlands and it is very wet from dew. It is indeed, Amritaprada and me. Yadubara Prabhu took the picture for an article to come out eventually in BTG about New Vrindavan. The flowers we are picking are primarily milkweed.
