Food For Thought

Priyavrata Prabhu,

Please accept my obeisances. Jai Srila Prabhupada!

Thank you for taking the time to visit me in the garden. I am lamenting that I didn’t get to spend more time with you. Knitting together the connection between the distribution of prasadam and the supply of “purified bhoga” for KC farm communities is such a worthy goal to strive for. The general public is unaware that many organic farming operations maintain their soil fertility levels through the use of soil amendments such as blood meal, bone meal, fish emulsion etc. These amendments are all the by-products of the slaughter industry and are what’s called OMRI approved. OMRI is an acronym for the Organic Materials Research Institure, a clearing house for what can and can’t be used in certified organic farming operations. In my preaching to guests, I make a major point of this sobering and uncomfortable fact to clearly distinguish between cruelty free agriculture and karmically binding agriculture. Karma free vegetarian meals, as FFL’s mission statement indicates, must begin literally from the ground up. The animal rights/vegan people would easily rally around the concept of cruelty free vegetable and grain production. In a day of two, my brochure will arrive via snail-mail. It’s a bit dated but still useful. Thank you for adding SANTEE Farm and Gardens as a link on your site. Any question, I’m at your service.

Tapahpunja prabhu,

Please accept my obeisances. Jay Prabhupada!

Thank you for your wonderful service. I just returned from the GREEN FESTIVAL in San Francisco and in DC. We had a booth at the DC show and I just networked at the San Fran show. Everyone loves to learn about FFL. The more I study the green revolution going on right now, the more I realize how relevant FFL is and how relevant ISKCON can be. The Krishna movement is the original “green” movement, but somehow in many parts of the world, ISKCON lost the plot. It is so nice that we have devotees like yourself trying to get everyone back on track. You have my full support. I love this connection of FFL and pure agriculture.

We need to strategize and work out practical ways that we can help each other.

Let’s plan to chat on the phone later in the week.
