The Boy Who Cried, I, Me, Mine

By Srila Jiva Goswami dasa
So in the late ‘70s, your correspondent was a Bhakta at the Columbus Temple. Several weekends a month it was, “We’re going to New Vrindabana.” I wanted to stay in Columbus. It seemed to me that the glory at New Vrindabana cited by the Devotees, was a lot like the glory […]

Friday is Gita Jayanti

Dear Devotees,
This Friday, December 1, is Moksada Ekadasi and Gita Jayanti, the anniversary of the day Lord Krsna spoke the Bhagavad-Gita to Arjuna on the Battlefield of Kuruksetra over 5000 years ago.
We’ll be celebrating this most holy day by reciting all the slokas of Bhagavad-Gita in the temple at various times:
Chapters 1-3 after Mangala-arati
Chapters 4-6 […]

Food For Thought

submitted by Tapapunjah (from an email exchange)
Priyavrata Prabhu,
Please accept my obeisances. Jai Srila Prabhupada!
Thank you for taking the time to visit me in the garden. I am lamenting that I didn’t get to spend more time with you. Knitting together the connection between the distribution of prasadam and the supply of “purified bhoga” for KC […]

The Fire That Time

By Srila Jiva Goswami dasa
I have to go back now … back to before … to how I learned to want the taste of Devotional Service.
At that time, ‘77 / ‘78I did not know the Columbus Temple, in Columbus Ohio, was a satellite Temple of the New Vrindabana Community. I’d never heard of New Vrindabana, […]

What Swiss Chard Has to do with International Relations

Harvesting News with a Slant
by Tapapunjah
Almost two months past the frost free date—normally October 15th—New Vrindaban’s core community growing sites are still pumping out veggies galore. In the past two weeks, 20 bushels of Swiss chard and 6 bushels of red beets have been lugged down from the Garden of Seven Gates, our largest protected […]

Wood For Sri Sri Radha Vrindavan Candra

Vyasasana, an initiated disciple of Srila Prabhupada, has recently moved to New Vrindaban. He is an experienced carpenter and a self starter, which is a positive for any organization.
As someone who has heated with wood for 35 years, I am a bit of a connoisseur of wood piles, and I will say with all positivity […]

Lunch Prasadam

Was it something he ate?

Think Tank Needed

The well being and sustainability of the community is very much connected with the well being and care of the devotees as they age. For instance, here is one idea to help aging devotees. On our donor lists I’m sure there are doctors who might be interested to come here once or twice a […]

Rutabaga Renaissance: Damn the Torpedoes! Full Speed Ahead!
Recipes For Sustainable Living
Before you read any further, let’s agree on three truths. The first truism is that Krsna loves the whole of His creation—that is, all His parts and parcels, vegetable species included. The second truism is that we neophytes must see all other life forms […]

“Surabi Nectar” Brijabasi Spirit Oct. 1974

“Namo brahmanya devaya go brahmana hitaya ca
Jagat hitaya krsnaya govindaya namo namah.
“My Lord, You are the well-wisher of the cows and the brahmanas, and You are the well-wisher of the entire human society and world.
“The purport is that special mention is given in that prayer for the protection of the cows and the brahmanas. Brahmanas […]

The Ox

I love thee, pious ox; a gentle feeling
Of vigor and of peace thou givest my heart.
How solemn, like a monument, thou art!
Over wide fertile fields thy calm gaze stealing,
Unto the yoke with grave contentment kneeling,
To man’s quick work thou dost thy strength impart.
He shouts and goads, and answering thy smart,
Thou turnst on him thy patient […]

Jason with Belle and Lily.
New Vrindavan has helped save two cows from the slaughter house. A donor gave money for their purchase, plus more for maintenance in their old age. They are 2 year old pregnant Brown Swiss, due to come fresh in December. They haven’t received their devotional names yet.
For a very readable presentation […]
